Vaccination Vacation

We're packing our bags and getting ready to head off to Princes Inlet for the weekend.
The timing is just great because Charlotte had her six-month vaccinations yesterday and has been running a little fever of 39 deg C since last night.

The poor wee thing has been pretty ratty and uncomfortable and we rang the Urgent Nurse at the IWK last night to find out that we needed to give her half a Tylenol, (Disprin - it cures everything).  I'm happy her temperature has been dropping, but she has been quite upset during the day and sweating in her sleep.

Having a cuddle with Dad and Bunrab

We just woke her for the last bottle of the night and seems fine now, so maybe I shouldn't worry so much. Looking at her, you wouldn't think there was a biological maelstrom happening in her tiny little immune system and making her feel like shit; but it takes a parent to know it is!

She's such a little trooper. All day she has been smiling and making fun of her old man. Sometimes it's as if I was a stoned penguin or a circus clown, or something equally as silly and entertaining.

Tonight, her temperature was a comfortable 36.1 deg C and she's been taking her bottle, rice cereal, and prune juice today without any worries, (at least Mum makes feeding her look easy). So, just another day in the office for little Charlotte, I guess.

Anyway, whew! Let's chalk this up as one of the many joys of infecting your infant with dengue fever and minced up mouse brains, all in the interests of Science!
Lucky for her (and us), that tomorrow's the long weekend.

Don't worry kid, it won't be long before you won't need a Nurse's needle to contract airborne pathogens and develop a sharp 4am cough and a nice snotty runny nose - you'll be in Day Care!

I'm glad you're feeling better baby, love xx Dad
