Banook Canoe Club - Blue-green Algae

It wasn't all fun and games this Summer. Come mid-August, Charlotte and her buddies were told to keep out of the lake because of the blue-green algae bloom that has sprung up due to the unseasonably warm water.

This left the young paddlers high and dry, and out of action at the Banook Canoe Club, which resulted in our kid morphing from an expert paddler to a devious card shark, after thousands of repetitive games of Spit.

I tried playing her one evening and was trounced, ten games to nil. In any case, the media got a hold of this one, calling for the lakes to be cleaned up so the children could continue to play.

Charlotte, Matt, Kate, and Lila all made it onto the new, and you can check them out at the news articles below.
