Bangor, Maine

As all good Canadian's do at one time or another, we headed down to the United States on New Year's Day to comb the Outlet Stores. It was freezing cold, we had no spending money, we spent a total of 22 hours in the car, and we all got deathly sick... then snowed into Fredericton for a couple of days, but the bargains were awesome.

Michelle got an LL Bean toat bag, Will got a new pair of slippers, and Charlotte got a first hand taste of how red cars are faster than blue ones.

Totally worth our while. It was fun ;) Next year, let's do the outlets somewhere warm... like Disneyland in Orlando, FL.

Fredericton, New Brunswick for NY's & Bangor, Maine to Shop!

This NY's, we travelled up to Fredericton to stay with our besties, Philip, Deb, and Lucy... Oh, don't forget Cody the dog.

After a couple days hanging out and seeing in the new year with a game of hard fought Pictionary, we decided to bang sown the line to Bangor for some well earned shopping...

On the way, we stopped off in Harvey to catch up with Mitch and Gloria (Jody's parents). Charlotte licked her fingers, then picked up every single chocolate coated peanut butter ball... Nice one, Tig. It was really great to see them. (The Fundy is on again this year for sure).

As soon as we arrived, in Bangor, Michelle and I came down with the flu. So for the most part, we were confined to the hotel room, while Charlotte begged us to do "something fun" (like go to the pool).

We did manage to crawl into the Frier's Bakehouse (no cellular phones) for a wonderful hand made breakfast.

We also tracked down the infamous Brady gang...

...and chased some of the pigeons.

Unfortunately, there were no giant bargains for Ms Michelle to prey upon (although Charlotte and I seemed to come up trumps).

So we packed our gear, and limped back towards the Canadian border, to the open fire at the McDonalds in Houlton.

For the record: US Customs are far more confident, courteous and proficient, than our red coat friends in the Canadian pavilion. (We crossing the border with a bag of groceries. You have a job because of us ~ no need to be jerks, just sayin').

Crashed Out in the Grill House

Sheesh ~ Christmas is hard work!

Bird Watching: You're doing it wrong!

Charlotte was checking out her new Minnie Mouse "Action Play-set", complete with compass, 35mm camera, and her much loved "P-noc-cleurs" [shown here].

(BTW, there were five more ducks in the river below. Just sayin').

Parcel from Dumby & Dianne

Christmas was extended a few days while we waited for our Xmas Skype call with Dumby and Dianne, but while Sean was out sailing in Whitianga, Air Asia Flight 8501 went missing, then poor old Dumby was launched on his second aircraft search for 2014.
So, with no Skype call possible, we used our teeth to open the package anyways, and guess who popped out: Alice the Camel (from the UAE), who incidentally is the perfect size for Poppy (the doll's from Waldronville to ride).
