     “What do you want to do next, Charlotte?” Michelle asked as winter swim classes finished up for the season.

     “Circus!” Charlotte answered, without even looking up from the show she was watching on her iPad. After last year’s resounding success there, it was pretty much a given.

     “OK,” Michelle laughed, cracking her laptop to make the bookings.

Atlantic Cirque is the biggest circus school East of Montreal and is Charlotte’s favourite place to go on a Sunday morning.

Questions About My Dad

Charlotte has been bugging me with a bunch of annoying questions lately: ‘Hey, Dad. What’s your favourite colour?’ ‘Hey, Dad. What’s your favourite food?’ ‘Dad, I was wondering, who do you love more; me, or Mum?’

Jee-sus, Charlotte. Give the old man a break.

It took me a while to figure out what all this was about, so admittedly, I got a little testy with all the seemingly irrelevant questions coming my way with little or no context - then I found this sitting in a pile of my work papers.
